why use rss?

Now that my students have their own blogs, I have finally taken the time to set up my rss page using Google Reader. Honestly it is not a big deal at all. I just don’t think a lot of people that I know are taking advantage of this great tool. If you are interested and want to find out how to do it, check out this video–

Here is a screen shot of my rss/reader.

It is a place where I can check out all of the latest updates on my favorite sites (like my students’ blogs). It automatically checks all the sites I add for updates, so I can view everything in one place instead of having to visit each individual site. Just about every site out there, including this one, has an rss feed, so you can check on all of your favorite sites (like mine!) using this tool. What’s even more awesome is that if you have a smartphone, there are apps that allow you to check your rss feeds using your phone. Even if your phone doesn’t do apps, Google usually does a great job making their sites mobile user-friendly, so you should be able to check your Google reader on the go fairly easily. I hope this info helps someone. Please comment if you set up your rss and let me know how you like it!
