why use rss?

Now that my students have their own blogs, I have finally taken the time to set up my rss page using Google Reader. Honestly it is not a big deal at all. I just don’t think a lot of people that I know are taking advantage of this great tool. If you are interested and want to find out how to do it, check out this video–
Here is a screen shot of my rss/reader.

It is a place where I can check out all of the latest updates on my favorite sites (like my students’ blogs). It automatically checks all the sites I add for updates, so I can view everything in one place instead of having to visit each individual site. Just about every site out there, including this one, has an rss feed, so you can check on all of your favorite sites (like mine!) using this tool. What’s even more awesome is that if you have a smartphone, there are apps that allow you to check your rss feeds using your phone. Even if your phone doesn’t do apps, Google usually does a great job making their sites mobile user-friendly, so you should be able to check your Google reader on the go fairly easily. I hope this info helps someone. Please comment if you set up your rss and let me know how you like it!

RSS is a very useful tool. It can help me save time, because instead of going to everyone’s blog individually, I can view all of their blogs at once.

I will use rss to keep myself updated with what’s new in class and to see how the kids in my class are doing with their projects.

I will use rss for facebook! Just kidding. Truthfully (and though this may be considered “not real”) I will use rss to check and see if I missed an assignment… as well as to see the wonderful work of my peers, of course.

I think rss feeds are useful because I can get up-to-date information from my favorite websites without having to go to each website and refreshing them every 5 seconds. For this class, I’ll be keeping track of my classmates projects as well as any real estate news in the N.O. area.

Wow! Who knew that such technology was ever invented? Patrick F. Taylor is always a step ahead and so are you blanchetblog. That video is very informal and I will most likely watch it again. I now understand how to use an RSS feed, and google reader is just such a charm. Thank you! 8]

RSS feed is a good idea because it takes forever to go to individual URLs but with this awesome tool, you can be at one place and check out a variety of things that interest you. It’s like Wal-Mart — a one stop shop for all your needs, rather than going to a different store for grocery shopping and another store for houseware, etc.

The concept of rss feeds is a good one. I won’t have to spend my time going to my favorite blogs reading the post; I could just do it in one site. I like it for this project because I don’t have to go to the seven different sites to read all their posts. Thank you Ms. Blanchet for showing me how to do a rss feed.

RSS is so freakishly awesome. I can get everything I want to read in one place. It so convenient and it save time. Now I can keep up with all of my friends’ blog with just one click and a scroll. As I say I am glad to found out about RSS.
